'Wall Flower'

an ode to Rob Dobi’s ‘Flower’ photo on RB

The growth climbs through my ribcage restricting my breathe
I visualise a giant sunflower reaching up…up…and right through me
Searching verociously for any sigh of Van Gough’s swirling light
I have come quite dark…some would say morose even
The only pastime my condition allows me is my dreaming…

I see my ribcage as iron lacework that is suceptable to rust
and contemplate how my bones mimic the form of my hospital bed
I laugh at the sky blue walls that defy my confinement
I wonder if God is waiting till visiting hours to come get me
I roll my eyes as I think…how fitting…

I don’t delight at the idea of an afterlife
R.I.P my mantra…my deathwish…

Oh…and Dreaming…

…and Dreaming…
