“When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long
And you think that love is only
for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed
That with the sun’s love, in the spring
Becomes the rose.”
(from “The Rose” by Amanda McBroom)

Being in my 60’s, I am a latecomer to photography. Yet I have found great satisfaction and pleasure in creating digital art from my photographs. Taking pictures was a hobby until surgery in 2001 left me disabled and gave me the opportunity to learn about digital art and photographic software. I’ve been selling my work online and through local galleries since 2009.

Such a beautiful piece of art, Ellen. So lovely…

  • Thanks for that, Maureen! My “big adventure” was taking one of the cats in the backyard and then getting so engrossed in taking this image that the cat took off to the neighbor’s yard – we never let them out of the yard because of the inaccessible (to me) creek behind our house and Alex’s intense fear of losing them. I had quite a time getting the cat back!
