The night is dark. The stars are only visible in some small areas where the clouds are willing to part to let them shine their light onto the silent figure standing on top of the hill.
The cold winds have stopped their howling and settled into a soft hum.
The thin sickle of the new moon seems to rock behind the cloudy veil of the night spirits.
Cahir’s eyes are adjusting to the dark cloak the sky slipped into. He shivers a little. Tonight he feels strong again. The battle is behind him.
The wood he had gathered earlier will feed the fire to keep him warm throughout the night. It is his night of Vision Quest. Slowly and with great reverence he unfolds the bundle that hold the gift from his master, his great teacher. His hands reach for the objects inside, two arrows. He holds them up to the night sky with the battle cry still strong in his belly. The roar that escapes his throat, rolls like an avalanche down the hill and bounces back from the chasm as an echo, acknowledging him in his power.
Cahir prepares his ritual and reflects on his journey. Great are many of his achievements and much has been lost as well, or so it seems.
The arrows burn in his hand. Tonight he will point them into a new direction and symbolically let them fly toward their target.
He is calm now, he has claimed back his power and will walk tall and strong, to fulfil his chosen destiny. The tools of the Magician are well integrated into his whole being and he has the courage and the willpower to create a world where he can experience all of life’s gifts and mysteries.
He named his two arrows, Focus and Commitment they are his inner resources and will feature on his shield of power. Tonight he will receive his vision, he can feel it in his deep place of “knowing”.
He surrenders to the night and the unseen worlds, as he sits in meditation in the embrace of the warm spirit fire. The sound of the crackling wood reaches the new moon and the stars, that have come out to bear witness and to bless a great warrior.
