Ooo la la! ... well, hullo handsome! by

Top of the list of favourite birds, alongside Pelicans and Wedge Tailed Eagles, is the Black Cockatoo :-))
This male black, took a liking to my co-driver … he’d barely got the words out of “I don’t like the way that bird is looking at me …” and this glorious male flapped it’s massive wings and promptly landed on his shoulders! Great fun, and fabulous photo opp for me! :-D

Capturing people being people, and the finer details of four and two wheeled blingy classic automotives – two fave ‘topics’ of imagery :-))

He couldn’t believe it! After the initial shock of perhaps getting his ear bitten, out came the iPhone to take a “selfie” and a vid, to send to his wife! :-D … Smile for the birdie! … don’t know who had the biggest grin – the Black or my co-driver! :-D … love my job!

jesu! The size of him! Fabulous, love those tones !

  • Haha, thank you! :-D … Berns, the Black Cockatoo (red tailed or yellow tailed (we Aussie’s are fortunate to have been blessed with two types!) are the largest native parrots in Australia :-))) … I have always LOVED them! :-D

HaHa on all counts! What a great bird, caught in the act. But what act?? Love the ear-biting, too. And I want that HAT!!

  • Hiya Sheila :-) … the act of the male “forgetting” (?) it’s mate and taking a fancy to my co-driver was completely unexpected, on both our accounts!! I’m just ever so happy I already had the camera in-hand for the action! … yes, that is a very spectacular “hat” the male wears :-)))

Perhaps more visually spectacular, but not as friendly or out-going in this instance as her mate, the speckled female Red-tailed Black Cockatoo …

She needs a cuppa in that ‘hand’!

  • Haha, Sheila you’re right! :-D

I absolutely love these birds, best pets ever! Great capture of him, he really is handsome! :)

  • Thank you very much! :-)) I’ve only ever seen them flying about in the wild, long luxurious flaps of wings taking them high over tree tops … so to get up so close and personal with these two was an unexpected dream come true! :-))) Ell …

Ell I hope you’re going to post the two pics you have below the main one. I LOVE them both. The close-up is so personal, really excellent and the other is a great feel-good shot. .
I adore black cockatoos and their raucous cry as they fly by. :)

  • Maree, just for you … :-))) … adore these big beautiful Blacks also! :-D
Was in seventh heaven getting up so close and personal with these beauties!!!!
