Beautiful sunny Winter’s afternoon, welcome respite from recent chill, approaching Spring in the air, fruit trees budding, some flowering and starting to sprout leaves, bees buzzing … and two Maine Coon cats curled up, dozing in the long grass in a sunny spot in our backyard … until the Hopper came along, announcing it’s arrival with a loud thunk! on the wooden fence … Gucci was up in flash!

Canon 50D, 50mm f1.8

Great capture Ell! You didn’t have to follow him/her around too long?

  • Jordan thank you :o))
No, not following, had spied the two cats in the grass before Hopper thunked into the fence … didn’t actually know what the noise was, until Gucci darted for the nearest plant pot to get a better look – only then did I see Hopper on the fence and realise what the ‘thunk’ was … humans are just a bit slower than cats ;o)))

    storybook gorgeousness!

  • Georgie, thanks so much!! :-D
Gucci was quite commical in her attempts to reach the hopper … but it was
on it’s way UP the fence, not down, and she gave up on it within a few minutes ;o))

A terrific capture….I can almost hear him thinking, ‘if only I were a little taller’.

  • Hehe, thank you Susan :o))
Gucci is a large cat, she is a Maine Coon, the largest (?) cat breed known in the World … it was a very large Hopper (a goodly 6-7cms long?) but she makes it look small ;o) … and yes, she was still wishing she were taller! ;o))

(good ole nifty fift) Must be number one insect of choice for cats. Nice the way the fence is blown out a little, adding to the attention on the mog.

  • Lens of choice, Geof, as is insect of choice for cat ;o))
    … thanks so much :o)))
