Not even the most beautiful street artwork in Hosier Lane is safe from vandalism :o(

This artwork used to look like this:

Canon 50D, Sigma 10-20 at 20mm
Available light (late afternoon, Autumn)
Straight from camera, no post-ed

candid, vandalism, graffiti, urbex, hosier lane, melbourne, canon 50d, sigma 10 20

Capturing people being people, and the finer details of four and two wheeled blingy classic automotives – two fave ‘topics’ of imagery :-))

I love these Ell…having the people there sitting on the pavement makes it seem like a story is ready to unfold..

Shoot the idiot with the black texter..should be easy to spot, with a pen That big !!! :)

  • Hahahaa, he/she would be unlikely to be spotted, just another kid
with a spray can! ;o) … definitely needs a clip under the ear though ;o))
At time of image, I hadn’t been spotted, they were busy with whatever
discussion … 2nd snap though, and the girl in the middle was on to
    me … didn’t hang around for a 3rd ;o)) … thank you Gordo :o)))

This seems like a catch22, some might say the original was vandalism compounded by more of tjhe same. Well captured! – John

  • Thank you and agree John and so it would be except, Hosier Lane (and it’s adjacent companion Rutledge Lane) is one of the few alleyways or lanes in Melbourne where real street art (as opposed to mindless tagging!) is actually encouraged :o)) However, being an open and public lane means any art work here is at the mercy of passers by … plainly not everyone appreciates it for what it is :o/

looks like an expression of frustration from a would-be artist… perhaps they’re convinced that it’s a statement about the state of society though

  • Maybe … a so-called would-be artist that is nowhere near as talented
as the original creator, so the vandal/s has to spoil it for everyone :o/
Perhaps it is (was) a statement – the vandalism is more of a statement :o/
