Capturing people being people, and the finer details of four and two wheeled blingy classic automotives – two fave ‘topics’ of imagery :-))

Great shot, Ell. Love the high key nature of this :o)

  • Thank you Vince, liked the ‘high-key’ too :o))
Did consider tweaking the brightness down a bit in this, in the end decided to leave it, liking the stark contrast of black clothing against the brightness of arches and chairs :o)

three interesting characters – shot from the hip while talking to an unseen party, I believe!

  • Hehehe, well, over unseen party’s table, while talking to them ;o)))

Love what you’ve captured here Ell. Three very different people going about different things :-)

  • Thanks so much Narelle :o)
Was squatted down talking to two complete strangers at their table (out of pic, to left) when I saw the lady and gent approach … the gent especially looked so elegant swinging his brolly :o) Had already spotted the guy with his glass of chardy, but he was on to me ;o) So, I struck up a conversation with the two at the table (outofpic) then along came the lady and gent, cautiously stood up a little to clear the table, snapped all three and hoped the chardy guy didn’t catch me doing so!! Relieved he didn’t :-D

this is street photography at its best…everything is so natural and so mundane but so unique in it capture…and it best thing is that this wasn’t zoomed it but was taken with that brilliant prime lens…we just wouldn’t get the atmosphere with the zoom…bloody brilliant Ell

  • Awww WOW! What a comment!! Thank you SO much Shane! :-D
There was a bit of subterfuge to get this (see above reply to Narelle) so I’m very very pleased you’ve enjoyed this image! :o)))
I love that little 50mm, use it a lot! But poor little f1.8 isn’t handling the ‘over-use’ and is starting to bug-out a little with holding focus … have recently purchased a Sigma 10-20 (still on it’s way) so looking fwd to taking that to the street, but an 50mm f1.4 is on the wish list too :o)))

Oh wow Ell, that’s so sneaky. When I was in Melb CBD, I found that there was so many people walking around with DSLRs that people (well most) didn’t care if you pointed it in their direction.

  • “most didn’t care if you pointed it in their direction”

So true, so true, especially before and around Christmas/NY’s holiday season, everyone was toting new cameras, even kids!! … all great image fodder for a sneaky candid! :-D

Your sister is referring to “Little Grasshopper” from the old TV series Kung Fu?
I like the woman in this shot holding her hand over her ear so she can hear the person on her cell phone. Just a nice slice of life, ya captured there! Extremely nice.

  • " ‘Little Grasshopper’ from the old TV series Kung Fu?" … yes :o)
Di’s too young to have watched the series, but in it’s day and since, the words “Patience, Grasshopper …” have been well-used here in Oz ;o))
The lady and gent striding towards me, and the fella with his glass of, were just too tempting not to have a go at ;o) Pleased it worked, got only one shot at them! Thank you AE :o)))

That guy would have busted Me for sure !!… Super Street again Ell….. :)
  • Sometimes it pays to wait a while until the intended subject settles ;o) But then, a few times i’ve waited too long and the intended subject gets a feeling they’re being watched … noooo! really?? Dangit, have to move on! ;o))
Just lucky timing I guess, thanks so much Gordo :o)))
