About six weeks ago, we (the Depot where I work) got “adopted” it seems, by four little ginger/white ferals … the main instigator of the adoption was a “I’d really like to be friends” little female (unusual for a feral?) foremost in this pic … in the b/g is her slightly larger brother, who it seems she managed to convince we humans aren’t all that terrifying (he has the most beautiful LOUDEST purr!!!) or the big noisy monsters (our buses) that slowly come and go through the yard during the day … her other two litter-mates are more shy, but will tolerate the occasional gentle stroke from me, around a dinner time plate ;-)

Our intention is honorable, which is to have them de-sexed and vac’d, rather than perpetuate the sad problem of feral cats … being or becoming feral is not their fault, it is the fault of irresponsible pet owners!

    Piddy and Pat

Piddy’s a little wary, as she’d never seen me with a camera to my face before :-)

    Pat the Purrer . . . who’s not afraid of the big bad . . . ;-)

Wednesday 24th May, our four fur-kids were caught in cat-traps, quietly gently and without fuss, after some weeks prior of training them not be be afraid of the traps (via feeding them in open un-set traps) and gently transported to the Vet in my car. Thursday 25th of May, all four kittens were de-sexed, vac’d, wormed and microchipped … Friday eve, after I finished work they got collected and released back to their home, our depot … must say, I really missed their friendly little furry faces while they were briefly away :-/

Then Saturday sometime, Piddy, the most friendly of the four, mysteriously disappeared … I started to worry, as you do, for a little one that had had a speying only 48 hours before … I lost a lot of sleep and shed many a tear fearing for her safety and well-being over the next two days! Then this afternoon (27th May), I get a call from my boss saying Piddy had been found – on one of our buses!!! Clearly, the door had been left open, and the curious kitten had jumped in for a look, only to find herself on a short road-trip! ;-) Small mercy for us all that she decided not to hop out again, so far away from her home, or we’d have never seen her again or known what had happened to her!

Am so relieved Piddy’s Ok, albeit a little thirsty and hungry, and we humans are all now more aware of keeping bus (and car!) doors closed! :-))
