the smoothness of a gun
I lick
the sharpness of a knife
I taste
the happiness of these pills
I suck
the dryness of my noose
Deny…
Discard me at your peril
Defy…
I’m scarred, abused and ferrel
I fly…
Broken wings curtail my escape
I cry…
Spoken silence upon me I drape
I punch
the swiftness of a speedball
I knee
the stoniness of a joint
I smack
the cleanliness of these needles
I kick
the pureness of my habits
Retry…
Bleed these impurities from my veins
Rely…
In need with the betrayal of my futile games
I try…
Force the destruction from within myself
I die…
Remorse is decaying, mirroring my health

I like this part alot, maybe it’s becuase I put alot of these things into my mouth as well, common ground, so mutual understanding.

...it always intrigues me the romanticism that can fuel addiction & suicide…

but for some strange reason, i find it very raw and seductive…

Thankyou Mimi…your adjectives have described this piece perfectly…!! They were the 4 words I was trying to convey…

Great poem. Sounds like it should be a death metal song or something :p
Elizium replied
Thanks Matt…Interesting how you liken it to a Death Metal song as this piece was written with the intensity of Rock vocals/lyrics in mind…also it was inspired by a Type O Negative T-shirt I have. The backprint portrays 4 different methods of suicide…pills, gun, razor, noose… and it got me thinking about the glamourization of death…the seductive allure of the unknown…
