Acrylic on canvas, 36″×24″
This work is my translation of Linaji
Beautiful work titled Pain in Birds

This piece is part of SoJie13’s Work shop
Found in the forums area of Solo Exhibition this work shop has been so much fun and a wonderful journey of discovery.
I knew that I wanted to bring the light that I saw in Lina’s original piece, but my first attempt really fell a bit flat…..not enough of the wonderful texture that I saw and the birds weren’t quite right.
But I was brave enough to really get aggressive and added layers and layers of paint. I continued to wash it off and add more. Soon the textures gave me the depth that I needed.
I hope you enjoyed watching this process.
Thanks for viewing “Learn to Fly again”

Above were my first works in progress.

Hello Elizabeth! OMG I LOVE IT!!! You certainly lived up to your last name here, LOL!

  • Thanks so much Ruth……I wish I could have videoed this process…..it felt like a mess…..but in the end it was all part of the journey. I think I still wanted to get back to the yellow, but the blue conveys the light as well. So there ya have it.
THANKS AGAIN….I appreciate the comment and support so much!!

You finished? This is beautiful!!. Oh I just love it Are these pears below the tree? As in Partridge in a Pear Tree? I bet I could continue to see things for hours. Congratulations, Elizabeth, on a great painting!

  • No….they are birds with broken wings, I didn’t really want to show broken wings but I thought with them all huddled on the ground that you might get that, lol…… they are all looking up and wondering when they will learn to fly again. Thanks Frannie…..whew……I wasn’t sure if I would get there, but I love how it turned out.
