“Think Again” is my translation of Wendy Brusca’s
Belly

Belly
by Wendy Brusca
As you can see below, I have started with a very basic vine charcoal drawing. From there, I start to block in areas of color, not worrying at all about stroke, actually the messier the better at this point in my opinion. I want loads of texture at the end result of this piece and I am not even half way there.
As I start to add more vibrant colors such as the red/orange……I will spray it with a spray bottle and control the run…..letting it drip mostly down. I have learned to work back and forth laying it flat and then tipping it from side to side.
As I start to build up the layers again I spray with a fine mist and this will allow me to use a pointed object to scrape lines and textures into the paint to reveal the colors and textures behind.
It is typical that I will think much of my work is lost, but in fact it always comes through. I just keep working back and forth.
Next I will increase the depth and add more detail to the guy with the mask. I can’t say what he will do with that foot, but watch out, it could be explosive.
IN THE END, HE WAS KEPT IN THE SHADOWS AND THE WORLD WAS SAFE AND SOUND, AT LEAST THAT’S HOW IT TURNED OUT IN MY UNIVERSE
Thanks for viewing “Think Again” a translation of “Belly”

I am inspired by everything in life.
Nature, landscape, city life and more.
Over 25 years as a flight attendant has let me see life from every angle. On the road my camera and Mac are my constant companions. At home, it’s hard to find me with out a paint brush in hand.
No matter what, as long as I am creating I am content.
Thanks for viewing my work!!

Brilliantly done!!!
Hi Betty……Thank you so so much. I am loving the process of this. I was so excited with the bubbles on this…..it took it up to what I had wanted it to look like…..a bit more cheerful and bright. A piece that has hope instead of a feeling of dread, which is what I started out with. Whew…..glad I got there.
So nice to see you!! Hugs, Elizabethxxoo

WOW! (and perhaps I will throw in another WOW)! What an incredible job you did of interpreting Wendy’s work! I just love your colours and the very inspiring way you have ‘seen’ the original image! Amazing! I can’t take my eyes off it!
Thank you so much Lynda……This was such a fun project. I had several visions of this, but it kept changing, I like the final out come better than my original vision. It’s always good when that happens.
