Watercolor Painting, 140lb Montval paper 14″×18″
I’ve always considered my self lucky. I grew up in a family of ten kids and we had a wonderful house build by my grandfather. We were far from being rich in income, but my mom and dad really worked hard to give us what we needed. But when we went to the lake cottage in the summer time, I felt like the richest girl in town. I feel so blessed that I had that life. We swam all day and rowed our little boats on the hunt for turtles and climbed grassy hills to slide down on cardboard. It was a life that people dream of.
This painting is of one of the islands we could see from our cottage. It was one of 4, Dollar, Quarter, Penny and this was Nickel Island. I remember there used to be a dime, but it slowly sank and washed away. All of the rest are still there.
What a life we had living in our sweet little cottage on Big Cedar Lake, Wisconsin!
