I am very excited to exhibit in SoJie 14. SoJie 14 takes its name from the first letters of Solo’s Juried Invitational Exhibition. 61 other members of the Solo Exhibition group, besides myself, are exhibiting.
This exhibition is based on an open workshop, in which I participated. There, members translated participants’ traditional artworks to our respective favorite medium and style, as traditional, photographic, or digital art.
Non members, as well as members, ARE welcome to view all of the work on show. So I hope that you will click the show banner, above, and follow the link to view my fellow exhibitors. The works are shown “gallery size” and are beautiful, seen together. Each translation follows the originating digital work.
Winners of the open exhibition will be announced on November 2nd in an awards ceremony.
If you do not belong to the group, Solo Exhibition, you CAN lend support by commenting in my journal, here, about the show.

What a wonderful compliment Joseph, I so appreciate that you took the time to find me. I had a WONDERFUL time at the workshop, my only regret is that I didn’t have MORE of it!! Sometimes we just get a little and it has to be enough. But I got to do two pieces that I loved, I am thrilled with that.

I look at your marvelous translations and am blown away by your talent and versatility. My favorite of your work in this show is your translation of Elizabeta’s Peace painting. I think your composition is absolutely wonderful. Your use of backlighting to create special effects and shadows creates a unifying element for your overall design and your use of meaningful words as texture serves the dual purpose of sending a message as well as enriching the background of your work. Brilliant effort.

Being a part of these workshops has really pushed me to keep thinking and working on new ways to achieve what I have in my mind. Working side by side with all of the artists and frankly such experienced artists as yourself has been priceless. I think these workshops can only get better. I am so thrilled with your comments on “What you teach your children” This was very different for me, but I think I had had it in mind for quite some time. It just needed the right moment. Elizabeth, what a great collection of work! Each, has so much personality and is amazing how they all have a visual link to Home, each has windows or buildings in them, there is certainly a visual narrative that connects your three pieces. Distance, Closeness, personal space, family, inside and Outside, Dreams, memories and Echos.

WOW, Richard….you are so good at seeing things as you comment. I don’t know that I would have ever really thought about how all of these connect, at least not the way you have just laid it out, but you are right…..they do and I think that you can see where my heart is, I have a strong connection to home and family…….These last pieces have been really full of surprises…..I think I always had that family in mind just the way it came out, but it needed the right moment. I am so glad that I found it in Elisabeta’s original.

Thanks Eliza…….I did feel the emotion as I worked on both digital pieces…..what a great experience and workshop. My only thing is that I haven’t had time to really play and be there. I can’t wait for next years shows.
But in the end seeing the Gallery, it’s so fun to see the awesome results.
