Shorty Johnson otherwise known as “SJ” strolled around the table, keeping his pace measured, outwardly exuding confidence. Those that knew him intently mulling over his last remarks. The words he chose, as if prophetically speaking, “It’s all over now” tumbling from his beard and mustache shrouded mouth. Deep inside down where a man has to look into his own mirrored face, lay the cesspool of doubt, itching for a chance to catch him minus his life-jacket in place in order to drown his hope. SJ was nearing the position of finality, where everything hung on correctness. Clear mindedness. Smooth talkingness. Even his brain, was invisible now! Even time wanted to know, what was going to be the outcome. He glanced over the table, one last time, before calling “nine ball in the side pocket”!
