The Work you SEE
Incerpt to be included in forthcoming book collaboration with my Wife Caroline caux-Evans
The Work you SEE belongs to the following groups:
! 100% !, AFRICAN ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY, African-American Experience and Up & Coming WritersThe creative process proceeds through many turns, twists and sometime tantrums eventually resting if only for a short while. Music has a role in my work, and not just the kind you hear and syncopate your dance steps to. I mean the internal beats and measures that well up inside to deliver their various versions of “how I feel, see, think, need, consider, evaluate, believe, orchestrate, convey and paint/photograph life to be” as an ARTIST.
The work you see in this book covers areas of my “Stylllyfe” portfolio. I have given the most thought to these images, though not complete surrender to the genre. Space, light, composition are always upper most in my viewfinder regardless of what the subject may be. The good angle is of prime importance not matter what. As you become accustomed to my images you’ll see the continuing thread of line, composition, colour and simplicity. You’ll also have an opportunity to really use your eyes and mind while observing them. Less is more.
It’s finished when it’s finished and as an Artist I sometime wrestle with “knowing when the time has come” although it is really nice/wonderful when the end comes. This only signals the beginning of another faze; gallery, collector(s), or in the stack againt the wall. I do it because I CAN. I’m not a car salesman. I do it because I Want to. I’m not a bank VP. I do it because GOD gave me the skill/talent. I’m obedient to HIS will.
