Candle Lite Madonna, represents many elements of my “forgive the expression” style! There are elements included in this image that I hope are frequently shown, foremost being the use of just one flower. I do this simply because I am not a Flower arranger, rather to show shape, colour, and line usually. The sculpture shown in this image was made while at art school 37 years ago. For those reading this that were not born that many eons ago…get this one, “two days ago I received an email from a school mate, now living in Belgium, that I also had not seen or heard from for thirty seven years. He was a deliberate Sculptor then, who use to scavenge the hardened clay some of us couldn’t wait to abandon and recondition it to make his creations, which would have made the Ancient Masters proud. I didn’t want clay on my hands, yet Yourie thrived in the stuff up to his shoulders. Many of you have had experiences in classes similar to this, I am sure. Some ask, “where do you get your props from” and I have to confess that after so many years you look around and THERE IT IS. Some ask silently why “fake” people, my answer is because I don’t have to pay them or listen to them tell me “they never saw a picture of themselves that they liked”. Photographers like sculptors are looking at the armature, the skeleton that the skin is hiding. Sure we want to see the outside in order to be able to chase the light. My mission is to be able to make the ‘LIE’ come to life. The one that Picasso talked about. Artists taking a two dimensional surface and causing the viewer to perceive is as if it were 3 dimensional. I loathed clay in art school, but love attempting to round figures and hopefully giving a sense of dimension in my works. I thank you for reading this if you stayed awake, and pray you have some stuff left around 37 years from now, and some friends some of whom you have met on the Bubble to talk about it with.
Ciao and a VERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Elf—How you find your props; The eye of a keen and experienced hunter.
My friend, you alone could walk into any bathroom, rearrange the stuff you would find on it’s counter just so, shine light on it just right and presto…an Elf masterpiece. The rest of us would simply use the bathroom. It takes so much skill and having that “artist eye” to do what you do. That is why so very few can pull it off, and you…simply…have…the …touch. I am just grateful you use the talent that God gave you. And the fact that you kept Madonna after these many years…she was used beautifully. Rog

Honestly Elf . . . I thought they were a cool art form . . . not anything I find in other peoples art so I thought it’s quite unique as is all your art!

Merry Christmas ELF and God bless you even more. You speak from heart, your art is all he.art and your spirit awake and on a hunt. Seeing and actively pursuing the beauty were others are just busily passing by it’s in itself unadultered beauty: the inner.

So true Elf. The artist have vision beyond the ordinary, and yet they are never satisfied, and rightly so. Because creativity is never complete. There is always more. I know of no artist is feels that a piece is complete and could not be improved. They see beyond the “now” and the “obvious”
