This is a smaller version of 89 Hours with a different aspect ratio and a different colouring method.

The original picture (uploaded to deviantArt) took 89 hours to calculate hence the title. This one took nearer 40 hours (a very rough estimate) as 5000 iterations were used instead of 8192.

The image is a portion of a Mandelbrot (sort of) set of z = tan(cz) with the initial value of z set as if calculating a Julia set.

Created using mars and expanded using phobos (see my public profile).

I’m a software engineer and I’ve been interested in the artists possibilities of fractals since about 1987. It wasn’t until 2010 that I started producing very high resolution pictures using my own software.
