The sky was gloomy and dreary
The moon was darkened yet there
The scarecrows stood around really weary
Their job almost done for the year
Their hats were bedraggled and torn
From crows picking at them all day
But how proudly they had been worn
In the summer scaring creatures away
Now there is a nip in the air
How lonely and bleak the night seems
Then suddenly all hell breaks loose
As the Old owl screeches it’s scream
Then the wind picked up and is blowing
And strange music is caught on the breeze
For there is the annual Jamboree starting
The scarecrows begin swaying with ease
For down the lane comes the big parade
Led by a mummy in tattered gauze
Just a hole where his mouth should be
His trumpet blew notes without pause
The Witches came next in their big tall hats
Each riding a broom with a signature style
The goblins followed looking quite fierce
And the bats overhead darted with guile
The big pumpkin rolled alone side the parade
With a smile as broad as could be
He tumbled to the music as it was being played
The branches of the gnarled old tree
Were bending and swaying too
Skeletons came alone next making music from
Their bones jangling as they danced saying Boo
The drums were played by the stick figured men
With burned coals in their heads for eyes
They banged with borrowed bones on garbage tins
The sight was quite a surprise
Some one lit a fire from sending sparks to piles of leaves
The stick mens ’ eyes yes had flames jetting from them
They smiled a crooked grin looking pleased
All gathered around the flames happy to be here again
For this jamboree only happens one in a year
A time for these ghouls to dance and celebrate
then dawn slowly awakens and the music comes to a stop
All the participants went to meet their fate, no evidence is seen
No doubt about it , none at all , it will happen again, this hop
For these ghosts and goblins all have their day, we call it Halloween
