Australian Bustard by Stuart Cooney

Australian Bustard by

A female Australian Bustard (Ardeotis australis) marching through the grass in search of grasshoppers. Male Australian Bustards weigh up to 8 kilograms, making them amongst the heaviest flying birds on the planet (I think, from memory, the Great Bustard of Africa is the largest bustard and heaviest extant (opposite of extinct) flying bird)! Katherine, Northern Territory, Australia. Hey, look at that, a paragraph about Bustards and not one joke about their name!

I thought Australian Bustards lived in the local pub and winged about everything? Sorry mate.

Ah, do I detect the slightest English accent in that comment? Thanks Phillip
