As a child I first fell in love with photography taking pictures with a 35mm MIRANDA FM-X point and shoot, the love progressed and my parents humoured me and bought me my first SLR, a Praktica BMS. As a teenager I spent my weekends working at a local falconry centre where I’d take as many pictures of the birds as my supply of film would allow, at one point even having my photographs used by the local newspaper. As with all childhood loves, growing older and discovering work, love and a family replaced the camera bag with a nappy bag, and the faithful Slik with a pushchair to lean on.
A family holiday to visit my husbands family in Wales had me taking pictures of everything with our point and shot and in a few short days my love affair with the camera returned. I dug out my dusty teenage Practika BMS and starting playing again but I realised rapidly that it was time for me to move into the digital world where cameras are concerned. After a brief time getting used to pixels instead of prints with a bridge camera I bought myself a new digital SLR and together we’re capturing the world.
The love of the Welsh scenery didn’t end with a holiday either and after lots of stress I’ve relocated from the flatness of Norfolk to the beautiful mountains and valleys of South Wales where I live with my wonderful husband who happily drives me around castles and mountains to indulge in my love of photography, our three children are even getting in on the act too and all have their own cameras ranging from a reasonable digital camera to a Crayola VGA camera.
Current Equipment
I currently travel light and my primary camera is the Pentax K200d with a 70-300mm lens attached for the range I need to cover while shooting my primary love, wildlife. I also carry a Fuji Finepix s5800 around everywhere as I never like to miss a shot.
