Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo in sepia
This is the Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo, in Spain. This was taken on black and white film. This was printed and then the print was manually (using chemicals, not Photoshop), changed to a sepia print by me, in the darkroom. The print was then scanned to digital.
The seat of the Archdiocese of Toledo, it is one of the three 13th century High Gothic cathedrals in Spain and is considered to be the magnum opus of the Gothic style in Spain. It was begun in 1226 during the reign of Ferdinand III and the last Gothic contributions were made in the 15th century when, in 1493, the vaults of the central nave were finished, during the times of the Catholic Monarchs.

A marvelous image of a beautiful old building, Elana !!! The old chemical sepia toning certainly did have a ‘special tone’ all of it’s own. Rather fascinating history and seems hard to imagine all that has gone on all those years ago !!

This pic has such lovely tones. I think the original print must be magnificent. This pic tempts me to go back into the darkroom.
What sort of color was the original print prior to toning. By that I mean a cold black, warm black etc. I am asking because I don’t know much about modern papers.
