A little background on myself;

Born and bought up in the gold mining town of Kalgoorlie Western Australia. I now live in the Perth Darling Range W.A. and have done so for a considerable number of years. Although my heart is in the Australian outback, I venture back to the bush when possible. Unfortunately or fortunately a work related injury has put me in a position to be able to spend more time doing what I love. Painting and Art has been a passion for as long as I can remember and now I can when able spend more time on my art.

The experience I have had being born the Proud Son of a Gold Miner has given me a deep insight and respect for the people who choose to work and live their lives in the mighty Australian Bush.
I have worked in a vast number of positions in the mining industry throughout my youth. I have experienced under ground mining to surface plant operations in various forms to gain knowledge of the industry.
I experienced the ups and downs of the Mining industry depending of course on the price of Gold. The Nickel Boom was a great experience to live through and I enjoyed various positions over the Boom years.
I tried my hand at various positions to gain experience in this field and eventually settled into the position of a Drill Rig operator with a Local Company. Many an adventure was had stretching between South of Kambalda to a site near the North Australian, South Australian and Western Australian border peg. In fact I spent two years at this site flying back to Kalgoorlie on a monthly basis. The light aircraft, the bush landing strips and the pilots with their own brand of humor was something not to be missed.

This upbringing stands me in good stead to draw from my experiences to hopefully put brush to canvas and paint images of our great outback.

My paintings will vary depending on the inspirations that come to mind i.e.: Naïve, Abstract, Mining, and the legends and characters of the Australian Bush.

I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoyed expressing my experiences and visions though Art.

Yours Sincerely

Edward J. Cairns. ( EJ )
