Red-winged Blackbird

Red-winged Blackbird

This is a sign of spring for me, especially now, when some Robins have started to stay year round in Colorado. This picture was taken at Crown Hill Park, near Wheat Ridge, Colorado. The park belongs to Jefferson County Open Space, and they have a wildlife sanctuary in one corner of the park, where I got this image, in February 2008.

Red-winged Blackbird belongs to the following groups:

American Southwest , Beautiful Colorado, High Quality Animal Images - 1 Submission a Week, JPG Cast-Offs and The Birds Available for sale as

Love to see these birds arrive in the spring, These were a sure sign that spring had arrived where I was raised in Michigan!

  • Eivor Kuchta replied

Thank you, J D! I love to hear the sound of them in the spring. I lived my first forty years in Sweden, and they are not around there. There were other birds signaling the arrival of spring.
