Temptations by

Illustration based on the novel The Buddha of Suburbia by Hanif Kureishi.

Mix of hand done drawing and digital work.

Meant to illustrate a meeting between east and west and the essence of ’70s life and music.

Very much inspired by the music of David Bowie (especially the album Hunky Dory) and Jimi Hendrix, as well as psychedelic poster art, and even Art Noveau.

When you talk about 60’s poster art and Hendrix I give it you are thinking of Rick Griffin and the guys?

    POS

  • Rick Griffin, yes, but Bonnie MacLean perhaps even more, and also Milton Glaser. Not just ’60s poster art though, even contemporary artists such as Jasper Goodall and, as aforementioned, Art Noveau artists like Mucha and Toulouse-Lautrec. I try to find my own style though, and not copy anyone directly.

That’s an amazing collection of posters right there on your link by the way!
