Hi Ashley, good to hear from you. We have had a couple of lots of interstate visitors come through in the last month, which meant two trips to Mt Field in one week, so I have finally captured Russell Falls on medium format transparency. Got another car, a couple of weeks ago, (an AWD wagon) so, this might open up new opportunities for alpine photography this winter.
No more cameras have turned up for about a month now, I have a queue of them, waiting for my ministrations to bring them back to life again. To this end, I’m trying to set the shed up as a camera repair workshop so I have somewhere more permanent to work on them, but it is still full of too many old Citroën parts!
I started or helped to start a couple of new groups on Red Bubble, Hobart Tasmania and Camera Porn (for collectible cameras!). The last is a bit of a niche group, but between Greg and I, the two of us have enough cameras to keep it ticking over for quite a while, ourselves!
Next thing will be to organise a get-together for the Hobart Group members, probably Sunday morning coffee, and a meet and greet somewhere central to discuss some outings. So we hope to see you there Ashley!
Cheers
Brett

Watch out for a group message in the next few days, asking for expressions of interest for something in the next couple of weeks, and I think we should be able to get at least half a dozen walk up starts to come along for a coffee, and a get-to-know-each-other. We’ve got over a dozen members in the last fortnight, with plenty more to come, have a look at the group list for more details.
We have a good mix of digital, 35mm, and medium format, film users, so, I think there will be plenty of potential for exchange of information both ways (Eg. I’m fairly comfy with film capture, metering, etc. but could stand learning a bit more about digital technology & equipment). And, for instance, you may have never had the opportunity to experience medium format equipment such as a Hasselblad or Rolleiflex – I’ve a Hassy, one of our female members (or, soon-to-be-members) owns a Rolleicord (& I have Rolleiflex and Cord models myself, too).
Greg and I hope the group will be all about meeting and making some new friends, strengthening artistic relationships, mutual support and networking, and teaching each other a thing or two along the way in an informal environment… Should be enjoyable, I think, we have some very talented and friendly RB people in and around Hobart.
Cheers,
Brett
