Optimistic for Optimism
There is a girl I know Nanette, and at the time she was 14 she wrote this beautiful poem. She was dealing with the trapped feeling of being in a brothel run by a Madam who was cruel and envious of youth.
The world of Human Trafficking is the only one she knows outside of the books she grew up reading by such strong woman as Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen. She taught herself to read for the escapism and also to educate herself and she writes poetry to define where she is to see where she is going with it.
She may be a fictional character in reality but the more I write about her the more real she becomes.
Sweet Nanette

A bright light shines warm
Casting its rays over space
That to our knowledge is limitless.
Presenting to me here on Earth
The idea that if space can exists
Without a predetermined end
So can I.
I now try to consider space
In my present and potential actions
For I too am unlimited
And with the right momentum
I shall never stop.

interesting concept to take on the voice of another.. (the side note, is that a part of a novel? is this voice/character in a larger piece, just wondering) i really like the title and this poem

Indeed she is, when I was 17 I wrote a short story about this girl who did know khow she was worthy or capable of love and finds it in an older client who has his own agenda with it unbeknown to her.
It then blossomed to a full story about the Human Trafficking industry in the United States. She is just one of the 34,000 people smuggled every year from Europe and Asia to cater for that industry.

i think there is a taskforce against Human Trafficking and a movie they realised last year, I think on the same. Is the full story on redbubble?
