there are a number of complaint topics in the forums about images being copied from redbubble to picture sharing sites, the majority of complaints being that they are being copied without permission.
Where these sites provide links back to the original, why not try to turn these to our advantage, and attempt to educate the other users at the same time?
How?
Create our own accounts on these sites, upload each others images, and in the image comment write
> uploaded with permission of the artist and copyright holder Mike Finley, http://www.mikefinley.co.uk
The link back to the artists redbubble page benefits the artist on redbubble; the link back to a personal site benefits the artists site (obviously the artists redbubble home page could also be used) and the prominent mention of copyright may make other users think about copyright copyright and permission a bit …
I’ll be creating an account on www.foxsaver.com (as erkim) and will happily publicise anyone’s work who gives permission and does the same for me.
I suggest posting permission and copyright statement you want as comments (and account you’ll use) below rather than adding to floods of bubblemail

Very cool idea. This way, WE control the distribution of our images (at least on this one site). It’s advertising, and it’s free.

I don’t really see the point of a redbubble group there. There’s no control that I can see over who joins, and the only purpose a group serves is as a basket to put an image into – and each image can only go into one basket, and I’d rather put images into a relevant subject than ‘redbubble’. It could also be taken to imply that redbubble images were free to be copied.

Um, I’ve been thinking about this and the “group” – there is a group where this might be posted on a permanent basis. The “Bubblemania” group is all about promotion of our works on RB. Maybe it should be added to the forums there so people can keep track of whose in?
