Bolton Priory detail
Bolton Priory was founded by the Augustinians in rural Yorkshire (by the side of the River Wharfe) in 1121. It was built in stages over the following 350 years (never actually completed), to finally be destroyed by Henry VIII.
The much smaller local church still occupies a part of the site.
