This is my translation of Tammera’s:

by Tammera

I was drawn & inspired to this by two things:

First & foremost for the symbolic meaning of peacocks, which are many and very desirable (and noble if I might add). This gracoius bird sysmbolizes:

The above list just names a few (just a tip of the iceberg). It is also the subject of a great many mythological stories spanning through time, worlds, religions, and cultures. So aside from being one of (if not the) most beautiful bird in the world, it plays a greater role in human culture.

As a result, while researching this great creature and simultaneously looking at Tammera’s work, I could see a lone figure like the personification of the human race, ‘embracing’ this great bird not only for it’s beauty but (and more especially) to absorb these symbolic qualities.

Most definitely a TWIST and worth waiting for. Is that a peahen in waiting, on the left? I always thought that such a strange word. I can hardly wait to dive into your symbols, Eddy. The “embrace” is strong enough and gives pause for thought. Are we embracing what is beautiful and elegant, exotic and hard to get? mmmm. I’m thinking! Congratulations, Eddy!

  • You have a way of repainting my work with the most honorable words (hey! maybe I could get you to write a forward to a book, that is when I get round to writing one). Thanks Frannie, it was a joy to do, but a pain to finish but, yes, it was indeed worth it. Thanks again :)

  • Why, thanks Robin. Your comment is like a summer breeze. This is one of the qualities that I wanted to reflect of this awesome bird :)

    It’s astonishing in it’s textures and stories…what a wonderful translation Edy…

  • Janis! So happy to see you here!! Lovely comment, I would have put more on if I had the time (not everyone is a speed painter like you know who). Nonetheless, your translations were the catalysts that spurred me to do more layering. Thank you!!! :)

GASP! GASP! This definitely scores over 100 on my ‘Gaspometer’! It is absolutely gorgeous, beautiful colours, interesting symbolism and a great title. Frannie’s words sum this up so well. You always give the viewer such food for thought Eddy.

  • Wow Lynda! What a great stamp of approval coming from the great pastel queen herself. Thanks very much :)
