Crescent Moon at Dusk with Planets
here is a shot of the Moon tonight as it was setting over the Black River, the air was brilliant and one could see the dark of the moon as well as the illuminated crescent, with a companion planet or two as well. This was taken with my simple but trusty Sony dslr Alpha 100, propped up on a jacket on the roof of the equally trusty old Saab. I know, it’s just another borderline routine photo of the Moon, (you had to be there).

Hey, the moon is the moon and we see it different ways. Great shot.

thanks you all, I was amazed that it looks as good as the phenomenon did in person. This will give you a laugh – in the first exposure I couldn’t understand why the planets were coming out as lines, until I remembered basic astronomy, the darned things never stop moving!! LOL.

Very good photo.

it looks so clear Edward, i wish i could get away from all the street lamps that give off that awful garish light then i might be able to take some good photographs of the moon myself…..great clear image..nice one!

Ahh, street lamps, I am ready for a random road trip in the badlands just for some “away time” myself. This view amazed me, the air was especially clear since it was after some atmospheric cleansing, and even though the view was right over our little shopping center the moon was unusually stunning that night. And the new camera continues to amaze me.
