Rosella - Sassafras, Vic by EdsMum

Rosella - Sassafras, Vic by

This beautiful bird was with a group a red Rosellas and Sulphar Crested Cockatoos at the feeding ground at Sassafras in the Dandenong Ranges.

Thank you to Larry Lingard-Davis for coming by and letting me know this is a juvenile and will eventually form the bright crimson colours like the older birds.

It sat on the fence and stared then flew to feed. All birds live in the area and are very alert to Tourist buses….At the feeding ground, a ranger hands out seed and they all come down and sit on shoulders arms and feed, great for photo’s.

What a sweetie ! Great capture. Amazing that he has such a great verity of colors.

  • Larry Lingard-Davis came by and told me he is a youngster and his true feathers will come through as he matures, he will moult and new feathers will be the same as the other Rosellas. Still he is so pretty as he is – Shirley

    So colorful…It is gorgeous….Nothing like him/her here.Nicely captured Shirley

  • They are really lovely Jean and com down out of the trees as soon as a tourist bus stops.

I had a flock of Lorikeets in my Nectarine tree, they had a picnic, they are not so big as the Rosella and are green and yellow and noisy…

Thanks for the Fave Jean – much appreciated – Shirley
