Atop a full blossomed Queen Ann’s Lace () set two very unlikely parties. Well not unlikely to be found scurrying upon the blossoms of Queen Ann’s, but to be in the same proximity very long. The red-black ant (F. pallidefulva) and the Margined Leatherwing Beetle (Chauliognathus marginatus) are not exactly ‘buddies’. Had I taken a video of the next few seconds this ‘clash relationship’ would have been made quite evident. They tussled about a bit and then each of them ‘split’ the scene’ quickly.
