We're on the move ... by edigimag

eDIGImag is on the move.

This was our plan from the beginning. But like all beginnings, getting there is a trip. In many respects this for some is the ‘work’; the part most don’t like – or enjoy. But for others, it’s equally romantic.

I’m a bit in both camps. I keep telling myself the adventure that lays ahead is worth the waltz through the brier patch of details. It works… most of the time.

Our current project is a collaborative between fellow RedBubble members; Paul Lindenberg (spotlightkid) of Johannesburg, South Africa, Pieter Zaadstra (tzaadz) Gravely Beach, Tasmania and me, Les Booth (edigimag, ooakgallery, netgrafx).

Paul Lindenberg and I have been working together -all virtual since we’ve never actually met; the condition all cyber collaborators work with – since meeting on the Flickr platform in January 2007. We formed the eDIGImag idea in the summer of 2007. For a complete history of the eDIGImag formation and evolution, visit our site.

In December 2009, while conducting, what has become a regular safari around Red Bubble, I came across a most captivating account. Glancing over the portfolio contents, I was properly astonished by the professionalism of the art, but it was the emotive of the imagery that caught me off-guard. I had to get to know this artist.

I used the Reb Bubble message system to send the artist, Pieter Zaadstra, an invitation to chat. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a reply within a couple of days. However, our discussion was cut short due his eminent departure for the Australian mainland to work on the follow-up to his highly successful book, The Artist and the Fly Fisher Through The Eye of the Fly Fisher .

Pieter profusely apologized ( a character trait that has truly proven itself to be intensely genuine) – that he would not be able to reply again for several months. His venture out into the Australian bush would also be out-of-contact with our virtual world connection. Pieter assured me that he would contact me when he returned. OK I would look forward to it.

And straight away I was engulfed in a new project – incorporating collaborative work with my eDIGImag partner, Paul Lindenberg – and totally forgot about Pieter Zaadstra…. !!

In late March of 2010 I was again on safari around Red Bubble and again stumbled upon Pieter’s site. Quickly I recalled the previous months conversations and wondered when of IF, I would hear back from him. A couple of weeks later and my wonder was answered in a most bright Red Bubble communicae.

I had no idea what lay in front of this serendipitous find on the shores of Red Bubble, but that is the more interesting part of this incredible story.

Stay tuned, for the saga continues ….
