Love From a Leper

It manifests,
deep within the vulnerable parts.
And pollutes,
what once was pure.

Think the black plague,
in Europe.
Think Barry Bonds,
in baseball.

Think the First Amendment,
in school.
Think no smoking,
in bars.

It festers,
within the hearts chambers.
And dilutes,
what once was strong resolve.

Think one potato chip,
opposed to finishing the bag.
Think one drink,
when the night’s still young.

Think of touching,
without tasting.
Think of tasting,
without swallowing.

It’s parasitic in nature,
what it touches it devours.
It’s metabolic synthesis,
in a neat and rotting parcel.

It’s torn flesh,
beginning to heal.
It’s medicinally applicable,
when attempting to feel.

It has the ability to make you stronger.
The ability to make you whole.
It has the capability,
to repair what past love’s stole.

An infection of the truly divine,
decaying and complicated kind.

All my L3per Love.

Love From a Leper by

Never perfect, always honest to the point of excruciating pain, I both recognize my faults and failures, while admitting my love is his drug… and probably many many others. I love truly, wholly and all consumingly. Real love isn’t perfect but it is worth it.

Disclaimer: I have a brilliant friend who alerted me to the existence of grammar inconsistency, and although I know she is right, correcting it seems the greater of the evil. For, were I to correct it, I could not convey the thought with the proper cadence or rhyme scheme. Leaving the error may be the easy way out, but it also seems the right thing to do when the other option is compromising my artistic intent. How snotty did that make me sound? lol

The error is in:

It has the capability,
to repair what past love’s stole.

About Edibl3leper

Originally dark blonde, shy girl with an inferiority complex. But that’s no fun now is it? Black hair, yellowy hazel eyes, a “the louder the better” mentality, and an ego the size of Detroit (as fake as my raven hair I should mention) rounds out my very normal nautre. (-: Judge me by my poetry and my writing, and you’ll know me better than 85% of the rest of the world. (-:

there is a delicious and poignant thorny rose about this piece, it would seem nothing is ever straight forward, and would we really want it to be. As for heal, for me it is about integrating the pain….and some pain will throb always. I look forward to reading more by you

  • Lisa, I couldn’t have said it better. Integrating the pain, that’s prophetic, you definitely need to write a piece including that. Your words are completely appreciated, later today I am going to go take another look at your page. I know I enjoyed it before, but it seems there is never enough time. Thank You.

The complicated patterns that love makes…… it could simply be called Escher connections in life me thinks

  • TRULY! I love Escher, who doesn’t though. Thank you.

Fantastic lines all of them but I love
An infection of the truly divine
I think it is everything, nothing else is more euphoric or more painful but without it there is nothing and this big ball spins a world of walking dead, or blissful dreamers however one might choose to view it.. Another heartfelt write.

  • And another completely appreciated comment that is so complimentary because it too is heartfelt. Thank You.

An infection of the truly divine…..a double edge sword that cuts and heals in one continuous swing…..amazing perspective you have, one that tilts the head and unsteadies the heart enough to look at things with a different slant….just the way I like it. Great work E3L.

  • Shucks cosimopiro, with enough comments of this caliber, I’ll never need to fish for a compliment ever again. My sincerest thanks. (-:
