First attempt at layering, textures, etc. Humble dandelion, a pesky weed to some, but has important medicinal qualities. The leaves are also delicious in salads.
Taken with a Nikon D90, 105mm macro lens. Tweaked in Photoshop and Topaz Adjust.
Featured in Canon vs Nikon Group April 2010. Featured in Dandelions Group May 2010.
Beautiful work. Dandelion salad is my favorite. A weed it is not , but a friend to be photographed and give joy to my tastebuds. Hugs. POP’s
When I got my very first compact camera, the first flower I captured was the dandelion. I’ve probably photographed it 1000 times already. Most people see it as a pesky weed that must be removed with all kinds of evil pesticides. I’m glad you’re not one of them. Thanks Pops !!!
Every plant has its uses . Not just the ones of beauty . Iou should see some under an electron microscope . I am trying to take some photos that way. Hugs. POP’s
Sometimes I feel my macro lens isn’t enough.. I want to see more !! Would love to see your microscope pics.. There’s so much that we don’t see with the naked eye.
Definition of a weed (*Oxford Dictionary) – a wild plant growing where it is not wanted- I love Dandelions, and a lot of other plants other people might consider as weeds. They all serve a purpose. You’re work here is great, I love the texture and tone.
So correct !! The little weed flowers are just as beautiful as the next flower. Roses and such are rather overrated don’t you think?
And this is the result of just your first attempt at layering? Wow Mia, it’s utterly gorgeous!
It is, and when I run out of critters and flowers in the winter months, then I’ll concentrate a bit more on textures and layering. Thanks for the encouragement !!
this is so lovely…beautiful textures on the one…great work with the layering!!!!!
It was an interesting experiment, but I think it can become addictive. Might keep me busy in the winter months when there’s no critters and flowers around. Thanks for the support Nik – always appreciated !!

Very soft and pretty Mia – gorgeous colours – and I see the beauty in “weeds” as well :o))
Everything has beauty, even a fly sitting on a flower looks awesome. Thanks for stopping by !!
