Wastwater
Wastwater is England’s deepest lake and lies in a remote valley to the west of Cumbria. To the right are the famous steep slopes known as the Wastwater Screes which were formed as a result of ice and weathering erosion on the rocks of the Borrowdale Volcanic group that form the fells to the east of the lake towards Eskdale. They are approximately 2,000 feet, from top to base, the base being about 200 feet below the surface of the lake.
Wastwater is surrounded by some of Cumbria’s most famous mountains including Scafell Pike,Red Pike,Kirk Fell, Great Gable and Yewbarrow.
Wastwater is 3 miles long, half a mile wide and 260 feet in depth and is the deepest of all the lakes.
Wordsworth described Wastwater as ‘Long, narrow, stern and desolate’ but Coleridge had an entirely different opinion and considered it to be “a marvelous sight”

A very intriguing shot; all kinds of elements contribute, including the contrails in the sky. Nicely done.
