Ashcroft Hotel

This great hotel is in the ghost town of Ashcroft near Aspen, Colorado. The town has been taken over by a group that is restoring and preserving what is left of it. This just happened to be the weekend that the fall colors peaked, so I was able to get a great shot. Ashcroft is not far from Maroon Bells.

    Charles Dobbs ...

I love the ghost town shots and checked out your other site! Ghost towns and old mines are really fascinating to me. I think about what life might have been like back in those days. In a way, life was much more simple in many ways, and yet so much more hard work. I sometimes wonder which I would prefer.

Yes, I think that is very true. I imagine there are good and bad things about each time period. The old ghost towns get me to thinking about who lived there and what life was really like for them. I’m sure it wasn’t easy, but in our hectic rush of life these days it seems very appealing. I’m glad you enjoy my photos. I’ve had a lot of enjoyment taking them and sometimes frustration when I can’t seem to get the shot I want. I’ve never had formal training, just workshops here and there. Thank you for your kind comments. Elizabeth

This is great and not a scene we’d get to see in Australia. Reminds me a little of Cold Mountain, meets the wild wild west.

Very well taken, love the color and the exposure, especially against those golden Aspen. ANd greetings from a fellow Coloradoan! :)

Thank you. I’ve joined the group. Do I upload my photo to the group or is that something you do?
