This one might be my favourite shot of these ubiquitous rocky mountain dwellers. We will see what this summer (and an L series zoom lens, soon to be in my kit…) will bring!
Canon Rebel XTCanon 55-250 IS Zoom
animals, canada, wildlife, alberta, rocky mountains, bighorn sheep
hehe looks my my do in the morning, and wow what a coat of fur to keep warm with.great photo Echo
lol, thanks Barrie- he was the fuzziest, cutest bighorn baby I have every seen. Who could resist??
This is excellent!!!
As far as an L Series lens…
I have the 70-200mm f/4. It is not IS. You can get your hands on one for under $700 (US).
I do not regret it at all. It really depends on how and what you shoot if the f/2.8 version is worth it. For me it saved me nearly $600 by not going with the f/2.8.
Iam old school so when I need to I shoot with a monopod or tripod. IS is not important to me. I have shot for over 20 years without IS. Until prices go down I am satisfied with a non IS L Series lens.
BTW…my 400mm f/5.6 prime lens is also not IS.
Let me know if you have any questions. I love to talk shop.
Thank you Scott! I just bought a monopod, so I am trying to be more ‘professional’ but sometimes all that equipment wears on the creative impulse, so we will see. I am thinking abou the Canon 100-400 IS L series zoom. Heard anything good/bad?

WONDERFUL capture !
wonderful shot Janene. What is an L Lens, I am just hearing about this and see a new group in here for those that have it. I can look it up :-))
Thanks Vickie!- The L series lenses are Canon’s high-end (and super expensive) professional grade lenses- they are usually coloured white, so you may have seen em in a crowd. The say once you go ‘L’ you never go back- colour me excited:)
Thank you, Naveen!
What beautiful warm hues and such a gentle gaze! Good capture.
Cheers, Jan- it does look warm, despite the snow and ice.
oh wow, then I guess that’s the one I passed by when I bought the 50D, I got the Sigma 150-500, and saved over $400. plus the Canon was a 400mm zoom only. Oh well, we can only afford what we can afford. I’m so happy you are getting one Janene, don’t blame you
Lovely photo. Excellent work. Brenda
