looking good mate…how long were the exposures?

  • First was 1.5 secs & last was 12 secs.

I have a Hoya R72, Luckily my D70 is perfect for Infrared as it doesnt have much protection film over the lense.

So i can shoot without really long exposures. I could have had the eact same light here using only 4 secs…Thats just on ISO 200 & f16. I can shoot towards the sun 3oth of a sec, f4 and expose perfectly.

My D3100 takes 2 mins lol.

I changed the white balance of my camera aswell. To custom preset. Totally different. Whats your on bud?

Thanks a llot bro. Great to hear from you

My wb is just auto. Does it make a difference if custom?

  • Yeh bud, makes a massive difference. I’ve customised mine. On your Nikon…go to menu & seldct custom/preset white balance. It asks you to take a photo or to us an existing photo. Select take. Then make sure your IR filter is attatched to your camera. Take A photo of grass. Nothing else in the shot. Just use a really wide aperture & higher ISO. Once you have a well exposed photo , your camera will say “good”. That’s the custom white balance set. Now when you take an exposure you won’t have a overall covercast. Foliage will be bright n white. if your camera doesn’t give you the option of taking a photo to set the white balance, give me a shout. I will tell you the other way. Can’t remember if you have Photoshop or not. Let me know if you do & I will BM you my exact workflow on channel swapping and levels
