Vulnerability
Most people see strength and power when they look at the begal tiger. However, I see vulnerability for this critically endangered species. We have lost three subspecies of tiger in the past 50 years due to hunting: the Balinese tiger, the Javan tiger, and the Caspian tiger. The south China tiger is extinct in the wild, as the last known tiger of this subspecies was shot and killed in 1994. The remaining tigers are dependent upon for their survival the very same species that is causing their numbers to decline from illegal poaching: humans. I’d say that’s a pretty vulnerable position in which to find oneself.

such a cute widdle puddy tat its such a shame humans as a species cause so much descruction in the pursuit of our own happiness lets all learn from the australian aboriginals and learn to be the caretakers of this fragile planet so that future generations can enjoy what we all have now and not have to visit a museum to see the animals
LindaR, 5 months ago
beautiful portrayal of this powerful animal ~ and its fragile existence ~ I am hopeful when I read what Mariaan said about the help they are getting from South Africa

A sorrowful reality that shows how fragile the survival of species is when Mankind does not share. Greedy, abusive and illegal trades decimate species. A lack of vision, means, understanding, education and resources make killing the only known way to deal with conflict with wildlife. Poverty, manipulation and an ongoing black market demand fuel the poaching of wildlife. The problem is complex, voices and ingenuity are needed. Consider supporting the Bengal Tiger survival cause in any way you might be able to.
Thank you, Erin, for adding this beautiful individual who reminds us about the fragile line they stand upon, along your narrative and personal pledge to Art for Conservation.
