Well I’ve decided I’m not going to leave RedBubble, but I’m not going to involve myself in stupid arguments on the internet (touch wood). I really don’t have time to immerse myself in debates with people who won’t change their minds no matter how illogical their thought processes.
Anyhow…
In happier and more interesting news, I’ve been asked to shoot a cover for the first issue of a new magazine described as a cross between Rolling Stone and VICE magazine. So naturally I’m very excited to have been headhunted for the job.
Coincidentally, the first issue is on the topic of what it means to be Australian and will most probably involve an Australian flag as part of the image – which will be interesting after all the debate on Red Bubble about flags over the last week.
Hopefully I can come up with the goods and create an image that will make people think and hopefully make them laugh a little too.

Congrats!
With your standard of work being headhunted should not have come as a surprise!
Please keep as informed as to your adventures!! :D

I’d never take it down Incognita, they have to remove it themselves if they want it gone.
I don’t really want to go into details too much about the work but it will involve a Sudanese refugee juxtaposed with the flag, so I think it will be controversial enough without bringing in an American flag :)

The way I see it Incognita, I will stick around to make sure things don’t get too bland round these parts :)
I have my eyes opento what’s going on, but I never really saw RedBubble as anything more than a thinly guised way of turning a few bucks….but by the same token, me putting my work here is a thinly guised way of turning a few bucks too. Sure, I love what I do but every artist knows, if they can’t make some money out of what they do, -they can’t fund their art anymore. I don’t work outside of my photography, probably couldn’t get a desk job if I tried, so it’s very important to me that I maintain a presence at least while I’m still “emerging” as an artist.

Kate, I couldn’t agree more. I left, then came back and posted just mushrooms – coz they like it in the dark being fed on … you know the rest. Nobody want to buy social or political comment anyway. In the end RB is just about making a dollar and all the nice sounding bullshit is just that. By the way – congratations on being headshrunk. It’s always nice to be able to pay the rent.

That is amazing Kate, I know a million people would have probably said this to you, but congratulations anyway. :)

Nah, I really only found out this morning sooo…not many people know yet. Anyhow, it could all go south and won’t end up getting to do it….but at this stage…probably.

They profit from me, I profit from them. Seems like a fair little deal to me. You forget that the majority of my work is not political in nature…hell, I don’t even vote!

Congrats Kate. You’ll blow them away with your work I’m sure.

Shame to see you go – best of luck – seems alot of image pirates sailing the seas on redbubble lately.
