Old Timers – Boris

Enrico Bettesworth

Old Timers – Boris

This is the first in a series of portraits I am taking for my ‘Old Timers’ series It brings to light those who have dedicated decades to their chosen occupation, craft or trade, some by choice others through need. A trait which is rapidly diminishing in todays society where people are in constant flux between jobs, careers and hobbies.

This is a salute to the Old Timers!

This is Boris, a master craftsman who learnt the art of watchmaking and repairs through his father before him in Switzerland. Since emigrating to Australia mid last century he worked for others until finally establishing himself in his own premises where he has been since.

An updated Bio to come soon… I hope you enjoy!

  • Pip Gerard

Honestly one of the best portraits I’ve ever seen!!!
Boris (what a brilliant name!) has so much character… so much to look at… so much to take in. To have his hands like that makes it even more unique… and having the wedding band showing just gives more of a backstory to old Borey.
    Adore…. Adore…. Adore!!!
    Simply Brilliant!!!

  • Pip Gerard

    Pip Gerard

I just had to come back and look at Boris again!
I love the respect, adoration and focus you’ve shown to the older generation in your series (here’s hoping you do more). Sadly so many of the younger generation just dismiss them and completely choose to ignore them. Sad thing is that we can learn so much from them. They have a wisdom that will be lost because the new generation is all about fast pace…. technology… with new priorities.
This image should be published!! (I truly hope it gets the huge recognition it deserves) . I’m sure this image will stand the test of time and keep being a stand out favourite of so so many.
