Here are five hiaku I wrote while camping that day:
1
sitting in the heat
to unbearable degrees—
crisp bacon and eggs!
2
tumbling around
I see my life in a game—
going for a yahtzee
3
clouds saunter sideways
all the leaves whisper of my
nap in a hammock
4
birds singing in trees
lull me over to see them
I am a target
5
gentle showers come
after many days at camp—
run and get the soap
In 2006, my boyfriend and I went camping for a week. We did nothing but eat, sleep, make love, and stink from the lack of water. It was totally worth it! I grew artistically on that camping trip. I did a lot of writing and photographing. I haven’t really relaxed since then, so I miss those summer days. My favorite haiku that I wrote while in my hammock was number 3 (although number 5 was a close second):*
clouds saunter sideways
all the leaves whisper of my
nap in a hammock

Always one of my favs!
Mine too! For me, though, it’s a fave because it was so much fun while trying to get the shot. Luke was pushing me for a very long time. Wee!

Great shot, different and it works.

Thanks, Paul! The very best part of this was the “Weeeeeeeeeee!” feeling.

Great shot! I feel a bit dizzy looking at it, but I can picture myself laying there just soaking in the sun!
Thank you! One of my favorite days, for sure. :)

Radial Blur challenge!
Thank you! Yay! :D

This is brilliant,,, great use of radial blur
And by luck, it was done in camera! No post processing radial blur. :)

how did you do this in camera, because it is really a very cool effect
I was laying in my hammock with the camera and my boyfriend was pushing me for about 20 minutes. Out of a LOT of pictures, this is the only one where I and the hammock were in focus while the background was spinning. I had a lot of shots where my feet and legs were blurry, or the side of the hammock had flopped over onto my legs. Sometimes my sweetie pushed me too hard and NONE of me came in focus. I didn’t think it would work out, but then I saw this one lucky photograph. :D
I think it’s really weird how the tree directly in front of me has its own smaller spin, while the very back has a larger spin. I don’t know how physics work, but I think that’s what makes the image is good.

And I suppose saying that I created the blur “in camera” isn’t accurate. I should have stated that this wasn’t artificially created and is exactly what the the lens picked up.

What a fun experiment with a camera……. this is way cool
Thank you! I had a blast, but you can imagine how tired my boyfriend was after pushing me for that long. hee-hee.
