Beyond the paint chips the splinters the warn away corners Beyond the ivy that burrows into deep crevasses
You will find me Waiting
My sweetheart and I found this on a day trip to downtown Omaha, Nebraska. It was in a salvage yard waiting for someone to take it home. I wish that someone was me!
Kradam wrote a wonderful poem inspired by this photograph. Read Portal to My Soul You’ll enjoy it!
Very nice…lovely textures color and composition…well done!
Thanks! Mom (back in Keizer) wants this photo, but with the peeling green paint as more of a barn red color. I’m trying to figure out how to manipulate it, without using all the remaining hours of the rest of my life to do it.
I like the quality of this shot, the secret garden springs to mind. There’s a hint of diffused glow on the gate giving a dreamy ghostly feel to the image. The neglected paintwork & rust all add charm. I cant help wondering what lies at the other side.
What a well-thought comment! I have had many people tell me that this reminds them of the secret garden. The salvage area that I spotted this in was really covered in the ivy, so it might as well have been Omaha’s version of the garden! It’s a lovely area.
Love your image! Composition, colors, structure, the combination of peeling paint, rust, ivy, mysterious feel… It all works so well together. Gets my vote and fav!
Thank you very much for the wonderful, well-thought comment and I’m honored for the favorite as well! :-) I’m so grateful.

I understand…thus my penchant for keeping Photoshop manipulation to a minimum! My motto is: “What I see is what you get”. :0)
I agree! Pushing too many buttons is a bit scary for me! I might set off the doomsday device. hee-hee.
