The scholar always aspires to expand the knowledge for themselves, as well as for all humanity. The teachings are given for the community; to learn, to grow, to evolve. When time has taken them, few can recall their noble thoughts. There are some, however, that hold on to the ideals passed down through the ages. It is then when the scholar’s endeavors are rewarded… in the rising laureate.
Dedicated to my sweetheart.
My sweetheart and I attended a Renaissance Fair in Kansas City some years ago where, in an old building, I stumbled upon a dark corner of forgotten objects. I loved the look, the gathering of old pieces hardly looked upon, and tried my best to get a good photograph. I upped the ISO, which accounts for the noise, though I’m glad it turned out this way. The grittiness truly shows the aging, here.

I do like this.
Thanks! I like it too, but it’s not a favorite of mine. I’m not sure why, though. My boyfriend likes images that are a bit darker in tone, so if it wasn’t for him pushing to have this posted, I never would have put it up. We both agree that the best part of this photograph is the statue’s gaze looking up and to the left. There’s a bit of longing there.

very nice. i wish my mantle looked like that, instead of overflowing with unpaid bills.. 8-)
I would prefer your mantle to look like that rather than bills, too. (looking out for ya’ there. :-P) Thank you, Peter!

This is a great shot! Love the items in it and the mix of emotions it elicits.
Thanks! I think Luke feels the same way about it. He wrote most of the first paragraph in the description!
