Elements At Play

As Rain tap dance on the cement,
Her tempo is kept by Thunder.
When Wind jumps over Tree that’s bent,
The atmosphere is all but slumber.

Earth is at the open bar drinking water,
Sending sparks at Sir Sky.
Ocean sees her husband looking at another,
She slaps Mr. Beach as she waves bye.

Sun shines bright like a disco ball,
Trying to get the attention of Ms. Earth.
D.J. Cloud interrupts, “Closing Time,” he calls
To our baby Funnel my wife Hurricane just gave birth.

Rain frees up the dance floor,
Thunder is no longer drumming.
D.J. Cloud locks every door,
Things end as Rainbow is coming.

Artist's Description

I Thank God for this poem – which is a whimsical portrayal of a severe thunderstorm – because things are never as bad as they seem when we look at them from another perspective.
