February 2008
Watercolour on primed canvas paper, 5″ × 5″
Knotwork pattern painted to amuse myself on the train from London to Edinburgh. The design is a traditional Celtic spiral group in the style of the Pictish school, from the Book of Durrow via Bain’s Celtic Art (1944). My version is resized and recoloured from the original, in addition to inevitable differences resulting from painting freestyle.
Original painting available online via Etsy and DaWanda.
