Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone National Park
Grand Prismatic Spring is the largest and one of the most brilliant of Yellowstone’s many colorful hot springs. It measures 200 feet across and maintains a temperature of at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C). Which makes it a very steamy and smelly place.
Thanks for checking it out.

I’ve seen quite a few shots of this one from the air, the colours are just so amazing, thanks for sharing.

Great colors! How near can you get to this steamy spring? Think I must go visit, it’s just awesome…
dzf1z1 replied
You have to stay on a wooden walkway that will allow one to get about 20 yards from the spring. Close enough that the steam at times will fog the view of the person in front of you. You may want to plug your nose however.
Thank you for your nice comments.

I miss yellowstone. I was up their in 88 photographing the big fire that took out lake villiage. It may have been a different name it was the first year the resort area was open and it burned down that summer. Very nice capture of this spring alot of people try to get the blue pools in the center of the springs

Thanks Kenny – I was actually expecting to see it get ripped. LOL. I’ll keep it private from now on.
