At school we swap panini USA 94 stickers
And I’ve nearly completed the whole album.
got,
got,
got,
got.
Stephen Kelly is a liar,
He says he’s completed his,
But he wont bring his album in,
So I don’t believe him.
He said that his brother was a WWF wrestler,
But Mum say’s he works in Safeway.
Sometimes in lessons we play 20 questions,
Miss made me stand in the corner yesterday,
Because my one was Gu Sang-Bum,
Who plays for South Korea,
Paul Thompson guessed it straight away.
Everyone laughed.
The first teams I completed were Bulgaria and Spain,
I ran home from school and told my dad,
Did you know that all of the Bulgaria squad’s surnames end in a v?
My dad, sat reading his big newspaper said that he did.
All of the Italy squad’s surnames end with a vowel.
Dad said “oh” – he was watching the news
Diego Maradona, had done drugs and was going to be sent home.
Dad said it was a shame because he was a great player.
I could play for Ireland when I’m older,
Because my nan and grandad are Irish.
We played in the park on the day of the final,
The fat kid from school came down,
No one likes him.
I was Romario.
He wanted to be Roberto Baggio,
But I said he was Gu Sang-Bum.
He went and sat by the river and cried.
Everyone laughed.
His mum called mine,
She was waiting for me when I got in,
She gave me a clout and sent me to bed,
And said she wont buy me any more stickers,
And that they’re a waste of money.
USA 94
Usa 94 was amazing. It’s the first world cup I can really remember. There’s not much that’s better in life than being 8 and 3/4s and swapping paninis.
