ABOUT THE KING OF HEARTS
In dedication to my late husband all sickle cell warriors. The profit for the sale of this piece goes to support http://www.sicklecellwarriors.com/

Layer One – The King of Hearts from the traditional card with the sword behind his head — a great symbol of the pain that goes with love.

Layer Two – The four of swords from the tarot which depicts and effigy of a knight lying upon a tomb. One sword also lies beneath the knight. Three further swords hang above him, pointing downwards. My husband had a dream the night he died about being a knight in a tomb.

Layer Three – The Knight is replaced with the image from the Egyptian tomb painting where Anubis guides the soul into the afterlife. you can also see suggestions of the pictographs in the background.

Layer Four – Finally, there is overlaid images of sickled blood which was a constant in his life but did not rule his life.
